In the second book review of the day, I am going to be talking about Such is HER Life by Reecha Agarwal Goyal.
This book that clearly talks about women and her perspective roles in society, takes you through a maze of entanglements that a woman goes through in her life. The book is very short and took me almost 15 minutes to read. That, however, is simply due to the fact that it is a collection of snippets and musings and also, because I am a speed reader who’s intrigue lead her to achieve such a feat.
As I mentioned, the musings and snippets about a woman and her various roles adorn each page but the shorts are enough to make you think, believe, cry and tear up. The book not only takes into account the atrocities women face but also of the bounds they are kept captive in, under the name of security and ‘sanskaar’. Reecha doesn’t mince her words, making sure every word she puts up is a cutting sword that bleeds ink and emotion.
Written in simple, easy and understandable langauge, it’s the punch that every snippet packs which makes me urge you to pick it up. Rape, female foeticide, marital rape, heartbreak, hope, dreams and so much more, all packed in this little book that makes you think every time you turn a page. I wasn’t expecting much from it, to be honest, considering the small size but it shattered my illusion and made me realise that if an author could bundle so much pain, emotion and empathy in less than 100 words, she could do wonders otherwise.
i can’t wait to see and read more from her, which is why this is a 5 star read for me. Buy it, read understand it. No one can encapsulate the essence of a woman and her mind better than it.
until next time!
